Tut 1: Green Hat

In this tutorial you will learn some basic building skills while creating a simple green hat. You will also learn how to set the permissions of an object, and how to export your object to XML with the Imprudence viewer. Note that export to XML may not be possible with another viewer.

Step 3. Hold Shift and drag the cylinder up to create a copy. Repeat to create another copy.

Step 04

Step 5. Change the height of the topmost cylinder to 0.05 and move it down to touch the cylinder below it.

Step 05

Step 6. Edit the cylinder at the bottom and change its parameters to: Size (x=1.2, y=1.2, z=0.05); Hollow = 30.

Step 10. Name your object Green Hat.

Step 10

Step 11. Set the permissions for the next owner to be: Modify, Copy and Transfer. That is, if you give your hat to another avatar, that avatar will be able to make copies of your hat, to modify it and to pass it to another avatar.

Step 11

Step 12. Make a backup copy of your object by exporting it to an XML file on your hard disk.

Step 12

Step 13. Import the XML file from your hard disk to the virtual world to test how well your hat was exported. After importing you should have two green hands on the land before you.

Step 14. Right-click on the original hat and take it into your inventory. Then right-click on the imported hat and delete it.

Step 15. Right-click on the hat in your in inventory and choose Attach To > Skull in order to wear it on your head. You may want to adjust it after you have attached it to your avatar.
